Prestigious Golf Events in Lytham St Annes
In 2012 England's Golf Coast will once again host the most prestigious golf tournament in the world when the Open Championship returns to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club from the 19th to 22nd July 2012. The biennial Junior Open Championship will accompany The Open Championship to Lancashire. The world’s best will prepare to mount an assault on the Claret Jug in Lytham St. Annes, while the juniors will get underway at Fairhaven Golf Club. 16th-18th July 2012
Four Championship Golf Courses
A maker of Champions, Royal Lytham and St Annes is undoubtedly one of the most renowned courses in the world as the venue for the Open Golf Championship for over 100 years. It is a true links course which continually attracts visitors from across the globe to rise to the unique challenge of winds so strong that some of the trees on the course permanently lean sideways!
Set in idyllic wooded countryside, Fairhaven has been the qualifying course each time Royal Lytham has held the Open. It is a long course arranged with an inner and outer nine where the ninth is conveniently next to the clubhouse.
Lytham Green Drive, less than a mile from Lytham town centre, is set in beautiful pastures and meadows and is host to several first class “Open” events.
Unpredictable westerly winds, four ponds and fairways nestled between sand dunes provide a demanding challenge at St Annes Old Links.
