The William Rainford Golf Trophy
The William Rainford Golf Compeition has been running since 1984 and it takes place on the four Lytham St Annes championship courses. Old Links, Fairhaven, Royal Lytham & St Annes and Lytham Green Drive.
It is a 36 hole mixed greensomes Stableford competition on two days and a 36 hole Better Ball on two days. There are 86 couples who take part and competitors come from across England ranging from Northumbria to Bournemouth. Competitors must stay in holiday accommodation within Lytham St Annes (not Blackpool).
The Sponsor of the competition is Raymond & Keith Denham, William Rainford Holdings Ltd (Thomas Armstrong Holdings Ltd). There are two categories RED is for those couples who have a combined handicap of less than 33 and the BLUE is for those above 34. There are two daily prizes per category – winner and runners-up and an overall winner for the week with a prize also for the runners-up. The divisions are based on the mixed greensomes stableford combined handicaps.
The presentation of prizes to Winners for the week will take place at Old Links at approximately 7.30pm. Prizes are not awarded if couples are not in attendance at the presentation.
