Country Escapes
Experience the tranquil beauty of our green and pleasant land and create your own perfect world in Fylde’s countryside.
Escape the pressures of daily life in this rustic retreat and be enchanted by colourful floral displays and unspoilt villages, scenery and watch the barges on the canal.
Enjoy a little peace and quiet and re-acquaint yourself with some of the simpler pleasures of life with a stroll, a cycle ride or a picnic. After having a short stroll why not call in at one of our local hostelries situated within the quaint Villages for a welcome refreshment stop.
Visit the villages on their local club days? These are traditional events going back for many years. The churches, schools and local groups join together and have a parade through the village with decorated vehicles and fancy dress costumes. In the afternoon people relax and attend the fair. This is a big event in the diaries of the villages and an opportunity for families to spend time together on this day.
Many of Fylde’s villages, hamlets and market towns have history dating back hundreds of years. Kirkham is the largest of the rural towns and has many interesting things to offer. The local history outlines the town’s heritage as far back as Roman Times.
As you can see the Fylde Countryside is full of interesting bits of history to fascinate visitors.
