St Annes Carnival 2013

Carnival to raise funds for local charities. Floats, procession, Crowning of Rose Queen in Ashton Gardens at approx 1pm. Parade in the morning, stalls and entertainment in Ashton Gardens.
Crowning of the queen will be at 1pm approximately. Saturday 6th July 2013 10.30 am start and finishing 7 pm

Start at St Leonards along Clifton Drive and through the Square, over the Crescent and up St Annes Road East. Right onto Church Road, back down St Albans, right onto St Davids, left into the Crescent, left into St Andrews Road South, down Wood St and then right onto Clifton Drive finishes back where they started. Form up from 9am, parade starts at 10.30.

Best Decorated Cupcake Competition (children age 16 and under) The theme for the competition is 'Birthday Party'. Each child may enter one cupcake for judging. The cupcake itself can be bought or homemade. It is the decoration that is being judged. Entries will be divided in to age groups for judging. A trophy and certificiate will be awarded to each age group. Entries to: Competition Marquee in Ashton Gardens, Saturday 6th July between 9am & 10am, they will be displayed. Best Miniature Garden Competition - gardens should be presented in a seed tray approx. 14" x 9" (rectangular) or 10-12" circular. Use your imagination to design a creative miniature garden. There will be categories for ages 7 and under, 8 and over and adult entries. Competition Marquee in Ashton Gardens, Saturday 6th July between 9am & 10am, they will be displayed. Best Scarecrow Competition - Open to all. The scarecrow should be a minimum of 4 feet tall. Use your imagination, let the scarecrow tell the story! Entries labelled with name and contact phone number should be brought to Competition Marquee in Ashton Gardens, Saturday 6th July between 9am & 10am, they will be displayed. Best Victoria Sandwich competition - Open to all ages. To make the competition fair all entrants must use the standard W.I. competition recipe:
6oz butter/margarine
6oz caster sugar
3 eggs
6oz self raising flour

Bake the cake in a 7" tin. When cooled, the cake should be filled with rasperry jam and dusted with castor sugar.
