The St. Annes Carnival Committee are delighted to announce that planning is now well under way for the 2016 Carnival Weekend which will be held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July. As Ashton Gardens celebrates its 100th Anniversary this summer, the theme for Carnival Weekend will be ‘A Celebration of Gardens’.
The Committee work extremely hard to bring you a marvellous assortment of events that will appeal to the whole family and this year will be no exception. The weekend will start with the Parade through the streets of St. Annes which will set off at 10.30am. The route is short enough to be friendly for walking tableaux and we encourage you to dress up in fancy dress, either as individuals or organisations, and come along and support us.
Following the Parade, the focus moves to Ashton Gardens. The Crowning of the 2016 Carnival Queen will take place at 1pm on Saturday afternoon and will be followed by entertainment in the Arena until 6pm. Ashton Gardens will be bustling with stalls, fairground rides, games and competitions so come along and join in the fun. If you would rather take things easy then just enjoy a drink and some fabulous homemade cake in our Tea Tent.
Sunday will be a Family Fun Day. Back by popular demand will be the Best Dressed Dog Competition which will start proceedings in the morning. The Afternoon will include the Annual Tug-of-War competition, Children’s races and a variety of entertainment, all taking place in the Arena.
St. Annes Carnival is the only Carnival on the Fylde Coast to donate surplus funds raised on Carnival Weekend to local charities. Our principal charity at next Carnival Weekend will be Lytham St. Annes and Fylde Marie Curie Cancer Care. Carnival Weekend is only a success if you come along and support us, so we hope to see you there.
