Morecambe Bay is an area of outstanding beauty filled with wildlife in and around the sea. It is popular with local residents and visitors who enjoy its fantastic views.

But it is also a treacherous place with stormy unpredictable seas, shifting sands and tidal areas. Local communities around the Bay have seen many tragedies: shipwrecks, drownings, floods, pollution… many have lost their lives in the Bay. Recent disasters include the tragic loss of 23 Chinese cocklers who perished whilst out working and the helicopter tragedy in which seven men died. Worse Things Happen at Sea tells the story of this beautiful yet dangerous area.
